The Officers of the Lodge

Almoner JewelThe Almoner, W. Bro Terry Shelton is responsible for the well-being of lodge members and their families. He remains in contact with members who are unwell, and also maintains a discreet presence in the lives of widows of former members, so that the lodge may readily assist them should they find themselves in any particular need.
If you have, or know of someone with masonic links that has an issue related to the above then the Almoner may be able to help.

Charity Steward JewelThe Charity Steward, W. Bro Tony Playford  is responsible for encouraging the members to give generously, as all lodges are charged with maintaining an appropriate level of charitable giving to good causes. He also leads discussions about the appropriate recipients of the lodge’s charitable donations.
If you have a particular request regarding a donation or a suitable recipient then the Charity steward will be pleased to assist.

Stewards JewelThe Dining Steward, W. Bro Chris Norcutt is responsible for ensuring that all members that wish to attend the Festive board after the regular meeting are properly accommodated, in that respect all Officers are automatically expected to attend unless otherwise advised.
If you wish to attend the Festive Board, have visitors who you would like to attend or you are unable to attend, then please inform the Dining steward at least by the Thursday preceding the meeting.

Director of Ceremonies JewelThe Director of Ceremonies, W. Bro Derek Henderson is responsible for the smooth flowing of ceremonial and ritual in the Lodge and may hold rehearsals. He may be responsible for prompting other officers who forget their lines. He will direct proceedings during the installation of a new Worshipful Master. He is also responsible for forming processions and introducing visitors and will be responsible for conducting Lodge of Instruction meetings.
If you feel you need to contact the DC especially with regard to L of I meetings then please use one of the methods listed opposite.

Square and CompassThe Lodge Membership Officer (LMO), W. Bro Chris Norcutt is responsible for developing the concept of proactive recruitment in the Lodge. Providing a link/opportunity to connect with men who currently have no Masonic connections and wish to find out more about Freemasonry and those who come to masonry through the traditional
route. He is also responsible for ensuring the promotion of Freemasonry at all appropriate opportunities; including community shows, exhibitions, open days at Masonic Halls etc and following up of any membership enquires. He will assist the  Lodge in developing and implementing membership strategies, with a view to attracting suitable candidates. Helping to identify and share ‘best practice’ which is expected to have a positive impact on candidate growth and contribute towards improving retention in close relationship at this point with the Mentor.

Mentor JewelThe Mentor, W. Bro John Whyman is responsible for the training, development and etiquette of all Masons especially new initiates and those taking office. It is the Mentors constant goal therefore, to communicate to our members, a concept of Masonry that makes their minds receptive to the deep and meaningful lessons of the Craft.

Secretary JewelThe Secretary, W. Bro Chris Norcutt has duties which include issuing the summons (a formal notice of an impending meeting, with time, date and agenda), recording meeting minutes, completing statistical returns to the Grand Lodge, and advising the Worshipful Master on matters of procedure. Many individual Lodge by-laws add to these duties by mandating, for example, that the Secretary serve on specific committees. the Secretary is usually involved in interviewing prospective candidates and receiving requests from joining members or those who wish to attend meetings without invite.
If you wish to join our Lodge as a candidate or as a joining member or if just wish to attend a meeting the Secretary will be more than happy to deal with your request.

Treasurer JewelThe Treasurer, W. Bro Geoff Fincham is expected to keep the accounts, collect annual dues from the Members, pay bills, and forward annual dues to the Grand Lodge. The annual presentation of accounts is an important measure of the Lodge’s continuing viability, whilst the efficient collection of annual subscriptions is vitally important, as any lapse in payment (deliberate or unintentional) can lead to a Member losing voting rights, being denied the opportunity to visit other Lodges, and eventually being excluded from his own Lodge.

Worshipful Master JewelThe Worshipful Master W. Bro Tony Playford holds the highest honour to which a Lodge may appoint any of its members as the senior Officer of a Masonic Lodge. The Master, normally addressed and referred to as the The Worshipful Master sits in the East of the Lodge room, chairs all of the business of his Lodge, and is vested with considerable powers without further reference to the Members. He also presides over ritual and ceremonies.
